Enregistrement de l'oeuvre électroacoustique mixte <em>Xöömij</em>, composée par Nicola Cisternino en 1997, pour UPIC et voix de basse.<br /><br />"<em>Xöömij</em> est [...] un chant qui s'articule qui s'articule dans le rapport intrinsèque et indissoluble entre l'articulation linguistique et les sons de la terre qui les abrite. Des voix et des langues mystérieuses dont il se peut qu'elles n'aient d'humain que bien peu - au sens d'acculturation - mais qui se sont stratifiées comme des fossiles dans la terre, dans le paysage. J'aime beaucoup l'idée que les formes, les silhouettes et les paysages qui apparaissent devant nous, dans leur réalité crue [...] sont des formes ou des archétypes formels que nous n'avons pas encore appris à lire, et dont on peut aller jusqu'à dire qu'ils sont là, devant-nous - et depuis des millions d'années - comme serait un livre sacré grand ouvert. <br /><em>Xöömij</em> est le nom d'un genre particulier de chant vocal diphonique d'origine orientale, caractérisé par l'usage prononcé du son de gorge. Le registre grave du chanteur y est utilisé comme une cavité sonore qu iconstitue le son en langage, avant même son articulation partlée." "<em>Xöömij</em> is [...] a song that situates itself in the intrinsic and indissoluble relation between linguistic articultation and the sounds of the earth that abritate them. Voices and mysterious languages that quite possible have little that is human about them - in the sens of acculturation - but which have been stratified like fossils in the earth, in the landscape. I very much like the idea that forms, silhouettes, and landscapes that appears before us, in their raw reality [...] are forms, or formal archetypes, that we haven't yet learned how to read, and of which one may go so far as to say that they are there before us - and for millions of years - as a great open sacred book.<br /><em>Xöömij</em> is the namenof a particular genre of diphonic chant of oriental origin characterized by the pronounced use of the throat sound. The low register of the singer is used here as as sound cavity that constitutes the sounds language, even before its spoken articulation."
